April Austin, LAMP
(Large Animal Massage Practitioner)
Graduate of Northwest School of Animal Massage
April has been an animal lover all her life. Growing up she would often refer to home as a her mini zoo consisting of dogs, cats, horses, fish and birds. She started riding horses when she was 7, and quickly found her passion in the Hunter/Jumper world. She has a Thoroughbred Jumper and a Thoroughbred/Arabian cross. Fittingly enough, she also taught her rat terriers to jump and spent two years competing in agility trials before really focusing in on her desire to compete in the Equestrian Jumper ring.
She started her career with animals working as a kennel attendant at a veterinary clinic and then finished schooling as a veterinary assistant/unlicensed technician, a field where she worked for a little over 10 years at four different veterinary hospitals in two different states. After moving home from the east coast with her horses and dogs, April took a desk job, but she soon found herself missing working with the animals she cared for. She then began teaching riding lessons, riding and training and went back to school to become a massage therapist for large animals, primarily horses. She has been practicing large animal massage since 2014, and is currently back in school obtaining her small animal certification so she can offer the same care to dogs, cats and other small critters.
Currently completing studies in Equine Acupressure and Small Animal massage, April desires to continue to expand her knowledge of how to help animals feel and perform their best. She is excited to continue to offer new services and knowledge to her clients and patients.
